Workato keeps the keys. You get limited access.

Workato's terms give you a B-grade safety profile. The platform is built for enterprise automation, but the ownership structure and compliance burden skew toward protecting the vendor.

Here's what matters:

🔴 Workato owns the platform, you just rent it. You get rights to use it internally, but Workato retains all intellectual property and platform rights. You can't claim any stake in what you're building on.

🔴 You're liable for everyone who touches your account. Every Authorized User's compliance with the terms is your responsibility. If someone on your team violates the agreement, you're on the hook—Workato doesn't share that burden.

🟡 Your transaction data vanishes in 30 days by default. Workato deletes transaction records after processing unless you reconfigure retention settings. If you need audit trails or historical data, you have to opt in actively.

🟡 Deleted accounts stick around for 90 days. After termination, your account data persists for up to 90 days, or 30 days if you request deletion. That's a window where your information still exists on their systems.

🟢 You can export and delete your own data. You retain the ability to pull your data out and remove assets whenever you want. That's one clear win.

The real friction point: compliance risk lands entirely on you, while Workato keeps all platform ownership. Budget accordingly.
