Trend Micro Can Change the Rules, Drop the Service, and Walk Away

Trend Micro sells cybersecurity software and services. Their terms hand them a lot of latitude—and leave you holding the bag on several fronts.

🔴 Terms change without warning. Trend Micro can modify these terms at any time and consider you bound the moment you keep using the site. You don't get notice. You don't get a grace period. Continued access is treated as acceptance.

🔴 The website can vanish or change without explanation. They can modify or terminate the service whenever they want, to whoever they want, with no liability to you for any disruption that causes.

🔴 Your account security is your problem. If someone breaks in, that's on you. Trend Micro isn't liable for unauthorized access, regardless of how it happens.

🟡 Content is locked to personal use only. Everything on the site is for your personal, non-commercial use. No copying, modifying, or building derivative works.

🟢 Privacy rules live elsewhere. A separate Global Privacy Notice governs how they handle your data. At least they're transparent about keeping it separate.

A B-grade here means real friction points, but nothing catastrophic. The lack of notice before service changes is the teeth in this agreement.

This breakdown is based on Trend Micro's publicly available Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy. It may contain mistakes. Spot one? Let us know.
