Proofpoint Can Change The Rules Or Pull The Plug Whenever It Wants

Proofpoint is a cybersecurity platform that handles email security, threat protection, and compliance. We reviewed their terms. Here's what matters.

🔴 Proofpoint can rewrite its terms without warning. Keep using the service and you've accepted whatever changes they make, whenever they make them. No notification period, no opt-out.

🔴 The company can shut down your access whenever it wants. They reserve the right to withdraw Services without notice. If you rely on Proofpoint for security operations, you have no contractual guarantee of continuity.

🟡 You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure, and you're liable if someone else gets in. Proofpoint isn't liable for unauthorized account access. That responsibility is entirely on you.

🟡 Prohibited uses are broadly written. They ban exploitation of minors and unauthorized access attempts, which is standard—but the language is loose enough to cover a lot of ground.

🟢 Age policy is clear and responsible. 13+ to use the service, with parental guardian consent required for minors under 18.

The B grade reflects real operational risk: a cybersecurity vendor that can exit without notice is a significant continuity problem.

This breakdown is based on Proofpoint's publicly available Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy. It may contain mistakes. Spot one? Let us know.
