Khan Academy's Access Barriers Keep Some Users Out

Khan Academy says it's free education for anyone. The reality is more complicated. The platform offers learning resources but builds in technical walls that lock out certain users.

🔴 JavaScript is mandatory. If you can't or won't enable it, you can't use the service. No workaround. No alternative.

🔴 Ad blockers must be disabled. The platform requires you to turn them off to gain access. This isn't a preference—it's a requirement.

🟡 Getting help requires troubleshooting. If something's broken, Khan Academy makes you run through multiple manual steps before you can use it again.

🟡 Some browsers won't work properly with the platform. Depending on what you're using, you might hit a wall that Khan Academy didn't plan for.

🟡 No backup access method exists. If JavaScript fails, there's no alternate route in. You're stuck.

Free doesn't mean accessible. Khan Academy's technical design assumes a specific setup. If you don't match it, the gates stay shut.
