Figma's Terms Trap You in Arbitration

Figma's contract locks you into forced arbitration with a narrow escape hatch. You get 30 days to opt out or you're bound. Here's what that means.

Figma is a design and prototyping platform. Millions use it for collaborative work.

๐Ÿ”ด Mandatory arbitration with a 30-day window. Miss the deadline and any dispute goes to arbitration instead of court. You have to actively opt out in writing within 30 days of accepting the terms or you're locked in.

๐Ÿ”ด No jury trial, no class action. You waive your right to sue as a group or have a jury hear your case. This means you can't combine claims with others and you lose a major leverage point if something goes wrong.

๐ŸŸก Free accounts are personal use only. If you're using the free tier for business work, you're technically in breach. Paid accounts have the same restriction built in.

๐ŸŸก Admin users can make binding legal decisions. Whoever controls the workspace admin settings can take actions that legally bind everyone on the account. No confirmation required from other team members.

๐ŸŸข Data protection and a DPA are included. Figma has a Data Processing Addendum and explicit data protection measures in place. That part is handled.

The arbitration clause is the real sticking point. Opt out fast or live with it.
