CircleCI Can Change the Rules on You. Here's What We Found.

CircleCI's terms hand the company broad power to rewrite the agreement whenever it wants. The CI/CD platform isn't transparent about what happens when it does. Here's what matters.

CircleCI runs continuous integration and deployment pipelines for development teams.

๐Ÿ”ด CircleCI can modify terms unilaterally with no notice. They hold sole discretion to change the agreement at any time without telling you. You don't get a heads-up before a change takes effect.

๐Ÿ”ด Liability is limited and disputes go somewhere else. The company caps what they're liable for and pushes disputes into separate agreements you may not have seen yet.

๐Ÿ”ด You're responsible if someone else accesses your account. You're on the hook for authorization decisions and representations made by anyone with access to your entity. That includes people you gave permissions to and people you didn't catch in time.

๐ŸŸก A separate SaaS Agreement might override this one. Services are governed by an additional agreement with its own terms. Read both, because they may conflict.

๐ŸŸข IP rights are spelled out clearly. CircleCI owns its content. You get a limited license to use the service. No surprises here.

D-grade terms. The unilateral modification clause is the real problem โ€” you could wake up to a different agreement and have no recourse.

This breakdown is based on CircleCI's publicly available Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy. It may contain mistakes. Spot one? Let us know.
